| State House Square is a striking, 845,000 square foot, class A office property that combines the appeal of a modern office building with the historic character of a venerable state capital city. Highland Tank was contacted by the chief engineer at State House Square as on of 3 manufacturers to review and make recommendations to replace the existing grease/solids collection system which was failing rapidly. The system, a 1500 gallon concrete interceptor, was leaking grease/oil and not providing adequate treatment for the facility.
The challenge was set and Highland Tank looked to its Lowe Engineering product line of high efficiency Automatic grease removal systems to provide a means for automation and reduction in wastewater treatment costs. It didn’t take long for Highland Tank to receive the call from the chief engineer to acknowledge acceptance, by the management group and restaurant group, of the system design to include the Lowe Engineering AGI 100, high grease level alarm and a new product, the Coarse Solids Strainer (CSS). The unit was sized based on the new plumbing code guidelines and the MDC, an eight member municipal water/wastewater corporation, which unanimously approved the engineered design of the Lowe Engineering GreaseStopper. The chief engineer for state house square said it was a “no-brainer” in picking the grease stopper based on ease of installation, limited footprint and minimal costs associated with operation and maintenance.
The CSS is a convenient solid-liquid strainer that removes a large percentage of oily food waste from food service establishment's wastewater and produces a solids fraction with low moisture content. Simplicity of design and efficient debris handling makes the CSS the ideal solution for cost efficient solids removal. Our engineers customize every CSS to site and application specific parameters. Retrofit into existing installations is simple and there is usually no need for expensive plumbing modifications. The CSS has no moving parts and no power requirements.
